A Writer's Review of “Taming the Wind" by Tracie Peterson

{My Review}

Tracie Peterson is one of those authors who never ceases to amaze me. She writes so many booksand they are, every single one of them, well-constructed and a joy to read all the way through!

This series is the first Ive read of Tracies in a while, only because I have so many books that Im supposed to read for reviews. I was thrilled when this one came up for a LitFuse Blog Tour. It gave me an excuse to read all of the books of the Land of the Lone Star series. I also haven’t been one to pick up westerns lately, but since it was a western by Tracie Peterson, I knew it would be worth it.

I loved seeing the lives of the characters from the first two books continued into this one, though anyone would be able to pick this one up as a stand-alone and understand everyone perfectly well. Tracie Peterson is so good at inventing characters who have a real past, as well as complex emotional and spiritual journeys.

It was a joy to read this series, and I look forward to reading her next book, To Love and Cherish (which is co-authored with Judith Miller), set during the Gilded Age–my favorite era. It comes out soon and is second in a series called Bridal Veil Island.

I was given a paperback copy of Taming the Wind by Bethany House in order to read and give my honest review for this LitFuse Publicity Blog Tour. I give Tracie Petersons Taming the Wind 4 Stars.

{About Taming the Wind}

A young widow nursing the wounds of her past…

A cowboy with demons of his own…

Though grateful for the blessing of her daughter, Carissa Lowe has accepted that widowhood is her lot in life. Bound by fear and mistrust, she feels incapable of opening her heart again.
Tyler Atherton has never forgotten Carissa. When he discovers she’s living with her sister on a nearby ranch, his life becomes intertwined with the lovely widow’s. And Carissa’s daughter, Gloria, seems determined to wrap herself around his little finger. But while Tyler longs to provide a home and future for Carissa, he is haunted by an obligation he feels unable to fulfill.

Challenged by mounting hardships, can Carissa and Tyler preserve their fledgling love in a land as unforgiving and vibrant as the people who call it home?
